HISTORY The original owner, H. Worrell, was a member of a well-known local family engaged in the wood and coal business. He was followed by S. Van Dalsem, MD and later Effie York, MD, Palo Alto’s earliest osteopath. Residing in the home after World War II was Mrs. Elsie Stone, the librarian of the Felton Rare Book Library at Stanford University. The next owner was a popular school teacher, Henry W. Heinichen. In 1986 the home was restored and converted to a successful bed and breakfast, the Cowper Inn. This home is rated Category III in the Palo Alto Historic Building Inventory. RESTORATION 1986
